Brief History

According to the chroniclers was the Inca Viracocha, who founded Juch'uy Qosqo about a place that was already populated. When the first Inca, Manco Capac, arrived in the valley of Cuzco, found the area occupied by various tribes who were later defeated and annexed to the Empire. One of these nations were set on Juch'uy Qosqo. The chronicler Pedro Cieza de Leon, in his book "Dominion of the Incas", refers to this issue as follows:

"The Inca was determined to go to Condesuyo, finding himself more tired and old, left. At the time he commanded him were made in the Valley of Xaquixaguana (Juch'uy Qosqo) some palaces to get out to recreate them, and since he had many children and knew that the eldest, who had called Inca Urco on who should be in charge of the kingdom, had bad manners, and was vicious and cowardly, wished to deprive him of the estate to give to another man whose his name was Inca Yupanqui. The Spanish chronicler Juan de Betanzos states that after ten years of letting the power to Pachacutec Inca Yupanqui, Huiracocha spent his last days in the valley Xaquixaguana and died at the age of eighty.
